An Evening with Valérie Plante

  • Toronto Reference Library 789 Yonge Street Toronto, Ontario, M4W 2G8 Canada (map)

Organizer: Urban Climate Alliance (UCA)

Join us for an evening with Valérie Plante, the first female mayor of Montreal, co-chair of the Elbows Up for Climate campaign, and an expert practitioner at the University of Montreal's House of Public and International Affairs.

As the mayor of one of Canada's largest cities between 2017-2025, Valerie Plante led a major transformation. In addition to adding thousands of hectares of green space and approving several green building initiatives, her administration added over 200 kilometers of bike lanes, including the REV network of express bike lanes, and added over a dozen major seasonal and permanent pedestrianization projects.

Her keynote address will look at the power of municipal climate action, and look at how cities are building resiliency to climate change while also cutting emissions and protecting the biodiversity of urban spaces.
