Can Building Homes Cut Emissions? Data on Housing Density and Transportation

  • It's Ok* Studios 468 Queen Street West Toronto, Ontario, M5V 2B2 Canada (map)

Organizer: More Neighbours Toronto

We usually talk about housing as an affordability issue. Scott Baker makes the case that it's climate policy too, and he has the numbers to back it up.

Where we build homes decides how far people have to drive. Scott built a peer-reviewed model, the Compact Urban Form Estimation Tool, that estimates how much transportation emissions fall when housing density goes up.

He'll walk through the data, what it means for Toronto, and make the climate case for zoning reform.
