TCBN Downsview Neighbourhood Tour

Join the Toronto Community Benefits Network and local organizations for an afternoon of learning and discussion about the proposed redevelopment of the Downsview Airport Lands. How can we re-imagine these spaces as a thriving, inclusive, diverse, affordable and environmentally sustainable neighbourhood for the future through community benefits?

The Downsview Airport Lands is in the planning stages to undergo a 30+ year redevelopment process for a new mixed use urban community that will include housing, an employment hub, amenities, parks and open spaces. This neighbourhood tour is an extension of TCBN’s CBA for Downsview campaign and the goal is to amplify and discuss the priorities we’ve identified through our community engagement process. The themes that will be covered during the tour include:

  • Affordable housing and affordable home ownership opportunities

  • Good jobs and inclusive local employment opportunities

  • Social procurement

  • Affordable below market rent commercial spaces

  • Food security

  • Environmental sustainability

  • Culture

  • Recreation and support for culturally relevant activities/programs

We will be joined by representatives from ACORN, North York Harvest, Toronto Black Farmers Collective, Our Greenway and more who will be helping us explore these topics and highlight the important work their respective organizations do.

Lunch is provided
